A Bill of Sale form is a document used to keep a record of the sale of a vehicle.

When buying or selling a motor vehicle privately, you should always write a simple bill of sale.

This typically includes vehicles that must be registered with the department of motor vehicles in your State, such as: Cars, Motorcycles, Light Truck, Van, Utility Vehicle, Trailer, Heavy Truck (over 12,000 lbs), Off-Highway Vehicle, ATV, Power Boat, Snowmobile, Recreational Vehicles and Motor Homes (not recommended for stationary, non-registered mobile homes).

This document is NOT to be used to transfer REAL ESTATE.

A simple bill of sale must contain the following information:

  • Selling price of the vehicle and date of the transaction.
  • (VIN) Vehicle Identification Number.
  • Year, Make and Model of the vehicle.
  • Odometer reading.
  • Description of the vehicle.
  • Buyer's name, address and signature.
  • Seller's name, address and signature.

I, the undersigned buyer, acknowledge receipt of this Bill of Sale and understand that the above-described vehicle/vessel is sold in "as is" condition and there is no other expressed or implied warranty or guarantee.

We (buyer and seller) certify that all of the information provided in this document is true and accurate to the best of our knowledge.
