Sample Cover Letters

A cover letter is a short and direct letter that accompanies your resume and is used to communicate what makes you best suited for a job.

TIPS ON HOW TO WRITE A COVER LETTER

  • When applying for an available position you need to use your attitude and enthusiasm along with your marketable skills to sell your experience and background.
  • Let the company you want to work for know that you are interested in the job and that you know how to communicate clearly.
  • Don't mention where and when you've got your degree, dissertation director, prizes or fellowships in your cover letter. Your curriculum vitae/resume will give that information.
  • Tell what you have enclosed, whether a dossier is on its way, whether you will be available for a meeting, references from employers and members of the community, and so on.
  • The cover letter should be single spaced and no longer than a page and a half.
